On March 17, 2024, as part of the Save the Planet initiative, SSSIO volunteers from the Northern Region organized a coastal clean-up campaign at Pannai Beach, Jaffna.
A total of 45 people, including 30 Sai devotees, Velanai Pradeshya Sabah members, the local government authority, and other volunteers, participated in this service from 6:30 am to 8:45 am.
The service began with a small prayer, and within 1 1/2 hours, approximately 80 to 90 bags of plastic bottles, polythene, glasses, and tins were collected from a 200-meter stretch of the beach. The waste was segregated and handed over to the Municipal Council for proper disposal.
Youth participants showed great enthusiasm during the service and engaged in discussions on creating awareness among the public and organizing future initiatives.
Sai Devotees of Vadamaradchy Sai center conducted a beach clean-up service at Akkarai Village. Thirty Sai Devotees, 21 village people, and 16 members of the Urban council took part in the shramadana campaign.
The service concluded with Bhajan and Arathi, marking the dedication of the participants towards environmental preservation and community service.
